Rescue Me is a drama about the inner workings of 62 Truck of the New York Fire Department and the men that comprise its firehouse. It can, at times, be a dark look at what kind of person it takes to forgo his own personal well-being and run into a burning building while others are running out. It also looks into the fraternal relationship that each shares with each other because few can understand what it’s like to stare death in the eyes and not blink. It’s these relationships that begin to define them. Sometimes, it begins to be a detriment to their family lives. The series revolves around Tommy Gavin, a firefighter who must deal with the constant struggles with his estranged family, ex-wife, Janet, his alcoholic past, and the loss of his young son, Connor.
